This experiment was performed to elucidate the histopathologic distribution of
immunoglobulins, particularly IgG, IgA and IsM in 31 periapical lesions of primary
molars (23:Granuloma, 8: Abscess).
The immunoperoxidase staining method using reagents manufactured by Danish D
AKO company was used in this experiment.
The following results were obtained:
In the 31 periapical lesions, IgG was found in 27 cases (87 1%), IgA in 17 cases
(54.8%) and IgM in 14 cases (45.1%).
The distribution of inlmunoglobulins in periapieal lesions was in great diversity
according to the degree of inflammation and area. But the degree of distribution of
immunoglobulins was Ig G, Ig A IgM in descending order.
More immunoglobulins were found in the granulomatous tissue with moderate or
severe infiltrations of plasma cells and Iymphocytes.
Immunoglobulins were not noted in the liquefied area and severe leukocytes infiltration
area, and massive immunoglbulins were found in exudative fibrin mesh and peripheral
intercell-ular substance.
IgG and IgA was dominant in the well organized granulation tissue around the
proliferating epithelium of island form.
